We are very proud of the unique environment we have created at Eden Pinkwell Satellites. Our motto is ‘Learning Together in our Community’ and our aim is to empower our pupils with the social communication and interaction skills required for adult life.

We are very fortunate to be a part of a supportive and dynamic community which includes our neighbours, Pinkwell Primary School, Pinkwell Children’s Centre, community facilities such as Pinkwell Park and Hayes town and the impressive facilities of our home schools, including a hydropool, sensory rooms and an iLab.

If you’d like to be part of our community, please feel free to reach out.

Pupils

All pupils at Eden Pinkwell Satellites are pupils at the Eden Academy Trust’s Grand Union Village School, or the Eden Academy Trust’s Moorcroft School.

The pupils have a range of learning disabilities including those who are autistic and those who have physical or sensory needs that may include:

  • significant and multiple learning difficulties and disabilities
  • additional sensory impairments
  • communication difficulties
  • additional medical and healthcare needs, including complex epilepsy and life-limiting conditions.

Grand Union Village School is a primary school for children aged 4–11 with severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities, including autism, physical, sensory, and complex needs.

Moorcroft is an outstanding school for students aged 11 — 19 with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders.

Our teaching team is highly skilled and qualified in working with children with  a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.

Teaching staff, therapists and social care professionals all work together so every child’s learning is maximised.

All pupils here enjoy a range of subjects, therapy, and specialised methods of interaction carefully matched to their needs to help them reach their potential.

We focus on all forms of communication during activities, supported by an extremely high level of individual teaching and care.

School uniform

Pupils wear the uniforms of their home schools, Moorcroft or Grand Union Village.

Wearing uniform is encouraged because we know that putting on a school uniform is an important part of daily routines for many of our pupils.  However, we do understand that some pupils find wearing school uniform difficult so it is optional.

School start and finish times

Our primary pupils, from Grand Union Village School, start at 9.15 am and finish at 3.15 pm.
Our secondary pupils, from Moorcroft School start at 9 am and finish at 3.15 pm.

Access to the school

Most pupils arrive by local authority transport.  If you are bringing or collecting a pupil at the gate, please make every effort to be on time.

Our primary gate has a Grand Union Village sign and our secondary gate has a Moorcroft sign.  If the pupil is arriving outside of school arrival or departure times, please call the office on 01895 463 202 and someone will come to collect them.

If you are visiting the school please report to the main Pinkwell Primary School reception.  Tell the receptionist you are visiting Eden Pinkwell Satellites and they will sign you in.

Support for Pupil attendance

If your child is finding school attendance difficult, you are not alone. Many children and young people with SEND experience challenges such as anxiety, sensory overload, or uncertainty about the school day.

The Eden Academy Trust provides practical guidance to help build routines, reduce stress, and support a positive, accessible school experience. Explore the resources here.

School meals

At Eden Pinkwell Satellites, we have a healthy and nutritious menu of hot lunches which can meet all religious and dietary requirements.

Lunch times are an important part of our school day, helping pupils learn the mechanics of eating,  practice using cutlery and develop social skills.

Please call the office on 01895 463 202 to book  school meals.

Pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch but all food brought into school must be nut free.

Please read the important information below relating to school meals.

Primary students: All primary children who live in a London borough get free school meals for the 2023/24 school year.  However, it is still important for families to check if they are entitled to benefit related free school meals, which you can do here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals. This is because schools receive additional funding for pupils who have registered for Free School Meals (FSM) at any time during the last 6 years.  If your child is eligible for free school meals, they’ll also qualify for the Holiday Activity and Food Programme and food vouchers may also be available through the Household Support Fund.

Secondary students: A school meal costs £2.45 per day.  To check if your young person is eligible for free school meals, visit https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals.  If your child is eligible, they’ll also qualify for the Holiday Activity and Food Programme and food vouchers may also be available through the Household Support Fund.

Family services

Your Family Support Coordinator

Hello, my name is Danielle Graham and I am Eden Pinkwell Satellites’ Family Services Coordinator.

My role in school is to provide support, advice and information to the families within our school community.

I can help you with any worries you may have concerning your child’s education, behaviour and wellbeing. I am also here to support parents with issues that may be impacting their family such as health or finances.

Advice and support are confidential, although concerns relating to safeguarding children will always be dealt with as per the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

I am also here as someone to talk to if you need it. I may not have all the answers, but hopefully, I can help you to work out how to find them.

This may be achieved through 1:1s or small group support. We also are very pleased to be supported by DASH a local charity for people with disabilities.

Emotional, practical and social support

Eden’s centralised Family Service team provide links between home, school and other services, to strengthen relationships and communication.

They work individually with families who need support, advice or guidance about statutory services involvement and those who are finding it difficult to manage their child’s behaviour or needs at home.

They also provide pupils and their families with a range of activities outside school hours so both pupils and their sibling and families have opportunities to socialise and have experiences otherwise inaccessible to them.

Support can include:

  • coffee mornings at school
  • providing information about services in the local area and support to access them if needed
  • completing referrals to relevant agencies e.g DLA, PIP, Blue Badge, Young Carers
  • completing forms/applications
  • advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home
  • toileting issues
  • picky eaters
  • poor sleeping
  • setting boundaries
  • support to improve school attendance
  • signposting and support with finances and debt, housing, health, NRPF.

This list doesn’t include everything so please speak to me about anything worrying you or that you need support with.

How to get in touch:

I am based in school and can meet with you at there, at home, or even at a local coffee shop; we can meet at a time that works for both of us. You can get in touch by calling the school office on 01895 463 202 or you can email me at: Danielle.Graham@theedenacademy.co.uk

Please note: This is currently a part-time role so there may be a waiting list for any direct meetings. We may also need to prioritise support based on availability.
